Metro de Madrid serves approximately 5 million inhabitants that have a station less than 600 meters away from where they live. The number of passengers in 2016 was around 584 million.
The company has more than 7000 employees. All of them work to make sure around 2,5 million people enjoy every day a pleasant journey in the most comfortable, quickest and safest way.
Metro de Madrid operates infrastructure and rolling stock, including the engineering and maintenance point of view. These two characteristics are essential to provide experience and data for the development of any proposal.

The Networks Technology & Service Platforms group within the Communication Technology cluster of DTU Fotonik will participate in this project. The group takes a holistic approach for design of telecommunication networks and technologies, covering software as well as hardware (both electrical and optical) together with a more generic and technology independent conceptual approach to network architectures and functional requirements. The group’s competences include all layers of the telecommunication hierarchy. The department has been involved in numerous national and international projects both at a managing capacity and as leading technical and scientific contributor.

RadioLabs is a non-profit research Consortium of Universities-Industries, established in 2001. The headquarter is located in Rome, Corso d’Italia 19, Italy and the laboratories are based in the University of Rome Tor Vergata, University of Roma Tre, and University of L’Aquila. RadioLabs trains high level technical personnel, assists young researchers with grants and any other applicable support to their research activities, provides support to PhD activities of the partner Universities, and promotes the dissemination of results through conferences, workshops and specialized publications.
